Scholarships for higher education
The CTA offers scholarships for masters and PhD research at the CTA. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team made up of professors, research professionals as well as engineers and technicians from Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP)
The CTA is looking for candidates for masters and PhD studies in the following categories:
- Transportation Electrification
- Lightweight structures
- Noise and Vibration
- Mobile connectivity and mobile applications
- Predictive engineering / simulations
- Vehicle dynamics

My experience at the Centre de technologies avancées BRP – Université de Sherbrooke was very rewarding. Over a two year period, I had the opportunity to take part in a large-scale research project to design a three-wheeled hybrid vehicle. Being able to work on this project was ideal given my involvement in Sherbrooke's SAE Formula Hybrid. I was able to enhance the knowledge about electric and hybrid vehicles that I acquired at the undergraduate level.
Right from my first day at CTA, I quickly saw that the working environment was highly conducive to innovation. The team was dynamic and worked really well together. The collaboration among the many graduate students at CTA was great, not to forget the well-reasoned advice from research engineers. Students are also able to try out their ideas and concepts directly on prototypes. Combined with CTA support, the experimental validation fosters publication of results, which is an important consideration for a young researcher. The research projects are supervised both by Université de Sherbrooke faculty members and BRP project managers. This supervision provides adequate guidance that is stimulating for students. It also makes it possible to appreciate both the academic side of research as well as the industrial aspect. In my opinion, this pairing of the academic and industrial aspects is CTA's strong point.
I would like to cordially thank all of the people I encountered during my master's program at CTA. I have very fond memories of this experience in addition to my pride in having taken part in a major Quebec project.

The time I spent at the CTA was a unique and valuable experience from both a professional and personal point of view. The CTA, in my opinion, offers a work environment with many advantages.
At the CTA there is a rich diversity of professionals with many different areas of expertise. As a student I was able to interact with professors, project managers, general managers, designers, engineers, technicians and other students with different backgrounds. The diversity of knowledge and tools at the CTA helped me to complete a research project with an in depth understanding of the problem. It was very easy for me to propose ideas and receive advice that helped advance my work. At the CTA there is willingness to give students the technical support needed to complete their work.
Having completed my undergraduate degree in France, the CTA was my first real experience as a researcher. I was able to identify my career goals and my likes and dislikes in the engineering field. Despite being somewhat of a shy person, I was quickly welcomed into the group.
To sum it all up, I have no regrets about choosing the CTA for my PhD studies and want to thank all of the people that helped me through my studies at the CTA.

I would describe the Centre de technologies avancées as an outstanding environment for students. I had the privilege of studying in this unique environment that is somewhere between industry, research and development and a university. The ability to work with engineering professionals from different backgrounds, technicians and mechanics with years of experience, master machinists and university professors was a major factor in completing my master’s degree. I don’t know if I will ever find a work environment like the CTA in my future careers, but I was fortunate to have completed my master’s degree there!
